Knights
What is it about Knights that is so appealing
I remember my first true effort at writing was when I was very young, maybe 10 or 11. I actually began writing about a Knight who served a King (Sean Connery of course, even then I was thinking Film). But this Knight was ready to have a life of his own, to be with his newly wed Wife (Who was more than an ordinary woman, she was actually quite good with a bow if I recall). And of course there were Castle’s
and let us not forget…
Dragon’s. Now Dragon’s can take us in a total different direction. But we’re talking about Knights (Must remember to stay on target)
Is it the fact that they ride in on great white stallions to save the day? Or the fact that they say things like “STAND BACK!! HE’S MINE!!”. Is it the shining armor, or the fact that they serve a King. Or the clanking of the metal as they walk? Wait a minute, Knight’s weren’t really like that… Were they?? Or is it just Romanticism, or Hollywood that has lead us down this path of being enamored by them. Romanticism, that doesn’t sound like such a bad thing. I favor myself a Romantic, I suspect most that truly enjoy Knights are…
Lets face it, Knights kick ass! And on that note, so do Castles and Dragons!!
In closing the name of my childhood novel was to be “One Knight”. You can imagine how distressed I was when the not so great film came out
I know how you feel Sean. “First Knight”. Costarring none other than… Yeah… Sean Connery.
Even then I suffered from “Why did you wait to Write it” itis. But oh well.

I like it! The capitalization is a bit confusing though

Much like the “…” thing that you mentioned in the forum in regards to the Star Wars post, it’s kind of a creative liberty thing. In truth, if it distracts from the content of the piece, I may change it, as I decided to do with the Star Wars piece. “…”‘s and Capitalizing things that shouldn’t be per proper English, are a couple things I’ve done for a while when posting etc online etc. I changed the Star Wars post because of what you said, but I’m a bit more conflicted on this piece. The artist and perhaps stubborn side of me says do what you like, but the part of me that wants people to not lose focus on the content due to my silly artistic things says clean it up. Perhaps I’ll wait and see if anyone else says anything.
Glad you liked the piece, and thanks for the grammatical input. (My sister does the same thing by the way, lol)

Hey wait a minute now… Theres no time like the present to write that story here. I at least will enjoy it. I LOVE knights. (wispered… even though samurais can kick their buts) hehe

First, you’re right… I do believe a Samurai would give the average Knight a hard time.
As far as my childhood novel, yes, I would like to write it at some point. Though it would be from scratch/memories because I’m not sure where those original scribblings are at this point. Perhaps I will start to write segments here.

well if you do that, I’ll have to suscribe. LoL. I happen to be a fan of all things martial.

Be ye warned, though there be Knights and Battle’s, Romance and Dragon’s will rear their heads as well

haha, I like the way you write.
To me soldiers are the knights of today. Though less glamorous, and less elegant. Pretty downgraded actually. More like pawns.. (no offence intended!)

Sadly Soldiers are largely Pawns, or Instruments of War, or some may say Peace
It’s easy to apply Romanticism in regards to Knights due largely to their portrayal in Films and Storybooks, Soldiers however, it is not easy for me to apply Romanticism. I appreciate what they do, and I’m saddened by all that have been harmed or lossed along the way.
Thanks for your Comment

Agreed. I do not like the army and all that it stands for.
