Editing My Novella “I Died Once”
So I’m 17 Days into My Editor Funds “Kickstarter” Project, and we’re 87% There…
And I’m just blown away… As, like I say, I don’t know a lot of People, but the People I do know, I’m pretty close to… And we’ve only got a little bit to go before I can Hire an Editor.
In reality, this is a Fairly Daunting Task… Not that it’s Hard to Find an Editor, but I can only Imagine that there are Thousands, upon Thousands out there… Which makes it… Well… Daunting, Lol
I actually considered trying to “Hire” My Oldest Sister to Edit it, as opposed to having her Edit it as a Favor, which is what she did for me with My Poetry Book.
I Figured, she’s in between Positions, and it would be a good way to make a couple hundred bucks…
Being Finding Work is basically her Focus at the moment, I think it actually may have appealed to her for a moment…
But by the end of the Conversation, she had suggested that we get together for 2 or 3 hours with her English Book, look over the Novella, and determine just how much Editing, and How Difficult the Editing is going to be… Being it’s not that long of a book, coupled with the fact that it has already been “Line Edited” by My Friend, and Blog Follower, Beth.
I said “Great”, I figure I’ll just get better and better at all of this, which will potentially mean My Work will be even Less Difficult to Edit as time goes by.
But then I mentioned Paying her, and she was like “Oh no, I don’t want any money for it, you may still need to Hire a Professional Editor”, Lol… My Sister is Silly.
The fact is, the Money that I generated for an Editor, “Needs” to be spent, as it is my “Obligation” to Spend the Money as I had indicated on the Kickstarter Project Page. “SO JUST TAKE THE MONEY SISTER!!” Lol
We’ll see, I’ll figure it out. It’s all still a Very Cool, and Very New Process.
Which leads me to My Next Project…
Rewriting/Editing My Fantasy Novel “Chess With Agatha”
Now My Good Friend Beth, who both “Reviewed”, and “Line Edited” My Novella “I Died Once”, has offered to do the same thing for My Novel, “Chess With Agatha“.
But unlike “I Died Once”, I feel there will be more actual “Rewriting/Clean Up Editing” to do with “Chess With Agatha”, prior to me having Beth Review, and Line Edit it.
Either way, I warned her, that though this book isn’t Extremely Long, it is 3 to 4 times longer than “I Died Once”… This didn’t seem to bother her, and so once I’ve gone through it, and Rewritten/Cleaned it up a bit, I’ll hand it over to her.
I’ve also Contacted Two Different Possible Artists for the Cover… One whose Drawing I used for “I Died Once”, and another one, who may just be too busy to even reply.
We shall see.
