Mom Turns 71 – The Best Mom In The World

My Mom turned 71 today…

She’s always been one of My Best Friends all of My Life, along with My Brother.

Growing up, it was Her, My Brother and I for the most part. Oh, and her Boyfriend of over 30 years now.

I have two older Sisters, but they weren’t around much when I was a kid.

Mom always made sure we were fed, and had ‘good shoes’, Lol… Yes, though we didn’t have much money, you’d often see My Brother and I in NIKE shoes, Lol

She had heard, and believed, that Shoes were a very important thing.

We grew up in a little canyon home, and when we were young, she basically gave the living room to My Brother and I, as our Place to Play and be Creative.

And that we did.

We must have had over 100 Action Figures, and would Create Huge Story Lines in there, and stay up late trying to finish them.

I do believe that this contributed to my Interest in Film Making/Story Telling… That, and The First Two Star Wars Movies, “Star Wars” and “The Empire Strikes Back.”

I remember on some days my brother and I would be playing, and Mom would get home with a Huge Bucket of KFC Chicken… Now we couldn’t afford it all of the time (Not that you want to eat it all the time anyways, Lol), but when she could pull it off, it was Awesome.

The four us would go to Movies together, or to the Mall… But for the most part, My Brother and I liked to be at home playing Action Figures.

Halloween was also Awesome… She’d drive us and a couple of our Friends around the neighborhood really slow (Back when kids used to Trick or Treat there, now Kids go to Malls to Trick or Treat… Or Track Home Areas, partly to do with Safety Sadly)…

Then we’d go home, our Pillowcases Filled, and Play Poker for the Candy, Ha

Yeah Halloween was a Big Deal to My Brother and I…

So was Christmas…

Like I say, we didn’t have a lot of Money… Though our Shoes were kind of expensive, everything else was pretty tight, Lol

But for us, Christmas meant “Time With Family”… Christmas Dinner… Some modest Presents… Christmas Music… Christmas Specials, Like “Rudolph”… Yes, I have to say, I absolutely “Love Christmas”…

And ever since then, I have been the Main Person that Decorates even now… And I used to be the one that Brought the Christmas Tree, back when I had a Pickup.

Growing up with Our Mom in our Little Canyon Home was the Best… And though My Brother and I hated School, and were pretty miserable there… Whenever we’d get home, we were as Happy as Could be.

These days, One of My Sisters has a Son, who is actually a Professional Ballet Dancer, and also Does some Choreography… That Sister Sings Opera, so there’s definitely a lot of Artists in our Family.

And My Brother has his Two Sons…

And they all Love to come and Visit Her at her Little Canyon Home that she still owns.

George Michael – Careless Whisper (I actually liked George Michael’s Songs later than when they were out, Lol)

 

 

Madonna – Lucky Star (This is the Song I liked most by Madonna… I stuck with her through her “Like a Virgin” Album, but after that, meh… She’s made a lot of good music beyond the 80′s, but when “Lucky Star” was out, I was definitely a Fan)

 

 

Thompson Twins – Doctor Doctor (Loved Thompson Twins… Even saw them in Concert, Lol… A Band called O.M.D. opened for them, Liked them even better)

 

 

OMD (Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark) – So In Love (I think this is the Song I really Liked by them, Lol)

 

 

The Human League – Don’t You Want Me Baby (Can’t remember if I liked this song, but I sure heard it alot, Lol)

I Want To Know What Love Is – Foreigner (This is pretty much my Favorite All Time Romantic Song from the 80′s… Yes I was a Romantic, even when I was a teenager, Lol)

Chapter One – A Dark Town

It was a Tale of much woe…

The Northerner came from a far away Mountain… A place of peace, and solitude…

Far away from the Judging Eyes of Mortal Man, or Elf…

For he was a Halfbreed… Unaccepted by either.

He was but a young boy when he entered the mountain… His chosen place of “Self Banishment”…

His hair of grey, and Eyes of green.

He thought there… Amongst Natures Creatures… He would find the kind of Quiet his Soul Hungered for…

And so he did.

But as the years would pass, the skies below, where he had come from, to the south… Began to blacken more and more.

What Treacheries were afoot below he often wondered…

But he would simply force himself to put these things out of his mind…

After all… What good was a halfbreed to the World Below.

It wasn’t until his 17th birthday, after 5 or 6 years of darkened skies, that he made his way to a town at the bottom of his great mountain…

And as he road into town on his trusty steed, he noted how the Elven Forests were Darkened… Almost as if they had been lit ablaze…

And all about were Warrior Riders wearing all black, who looked his way as he passed, but payed him no mind, as they spoke of battles won… And the enslavement of the Dwarves of Onstadon…

“The Dwarves of Onstadon enslaved?? Impossible”

“They were the Greatest Miners, and Strongest Warriors of their kind…” the halfbreed Ronah thought to himself.

Soon he reached the now Darkened Town of Stormbaren…

And like everywhere else, there were Warriors in black all around…

As he reached the local Tavern of Noran’s Inn, he tied his horse to the nearby pole, and dismounted…

Before entering the Tavern, he pulled his dark grey hood over his face…

Once inside he could hardly believe his eyes… There must have been 40 or 50 of these black Warriors, and the Woman who worked there looked more to be slaves than anything else…

When he’d look at one of the woman as he walked by, he could see the pain and misery in their eyes…

They were not free.

Ronah sat at a table in a dark corner, and spent the next hour or so just watching as these numerous black Warriors came and left…

There were no Elves here… There were no Dwarves either… This was very strange indeed.

Finally a young blond woman approached his table…

“Something to drink or eat sir?” she spoke most unenthusiastically.

With this Ronah pulled out a Red and Black Dragon Goblet, and sat it on the table…

“Some Dark Red Wine if you please…” he spoke to the girl, pulling his hood off, and exposing his halfbreed visage.

With this the blue eyed girl’s eyes widened…

“You should go… The Warrior’s of Borduc will kill you for sure…” she spoke…

But it was too late, suddenly 3 black garbed Borduc Warriors approached Ronah’s table, pushing the girl aside.

“Well, well, welll… What have we here” spoke a tall, large man in a grizzled black beard.

“I don’t want any trouble” spoke Ronah, whose eyes looked to the girl, who seemed to be alright.

“Look at that… He’s a halfbreed… As if the Pure Breeds aren’t bad enough” spoke another shorter, brown haired Borduc Warrior.

“What happened to the Fynlaian Forests? Why, and how is it that they are burned to the ground” asked Ronah in an almost royal tone.

“Looky here… The Halfbreed wants to know what we did to the Fynlaian Elves, Ha!” spoke the blond haired third Warrior.

Ronah started to take note of the Borduc Warriors all starting to gather around his table.

That’s when he drew his two Swords, and climbed on top of his table.

“IS IT TRUE THAT YOU MORTAL MEN HAVE ENSLAVED THE OSTADON DWARVES!! AND IS THE BURNING OF THE FYNLAIAN FORESTS ALSO YOUR DOING!! SPEAK UP!! OR ARE YOU COWARDS!!” Ronah shouted to the Borduc Warriors surprise.

“HaHaHaHa!!” the Warriors laughed.

Meanwhile the blond girl hid behind the Tavern Bar watching, hardly able to believe what she was seeing.

“So be it…” spoke Ronah… With this a blue light started to glow around him, as if it was tracing his form…

OUTSIDE THE TAVERN

Meanwhile outside the tavern, the ‘true’ Ronah appeared next to his horse, he mounted it, and road out of town…

INSIDE THE TAVERN

“GET HIM!!” the Warrior’s of Borduc yelled, and begun swinging their blades at the blue light traced image of Ronah, but their blades would simply pass through it…

“Elven magic… It’s not real…” one of them spoke…

After she left, I just needed to do some Follow Up Spacing Adjustments, and then realized the Whole Document was Sized Wrong, Lol

Basically the Cover was the Right Size, but the Interior of the Book was Too Big!

Could Be Finishing Editing "I Died Once" On Monday

I spoke to my Editor tonight, looks like we may get together Monday and Finish Up The Editing.

Once I do, I'll submit the PDF to "CreateSpace", and Self Publish it...

Once they Approve it, I will Order 20+ Copies of the book, and they'll be here in a week.

Once I have the copies, I will be sending out 19 Copies to the Kickstarter Contibutors, and drop off a Sample Copy to the Local Bookstore that's carrying My Poetry Book, so they can determine weather or not they'll carry it.

How Was Everyone’s Summer?

How Was Everyone’s Summer?

As Summer officially draws to an end, I was just curious how everyone’s Summer was?

As many of you may, or may not know, My Brother came down for a hand full of days with his two boys… So that pretty much made my summer… Beyond that, I’d say for about the first 6 weeks of Summer, we had weather generally around 80 degrees, but these last two weeks it’s been anywhere from 90 to 100 degrees, which has been a bit tough.

Granted, we have A/C, so we were ok as far as the heat… But the Humidity has been blech… Granted, I’m a light weight when it comes to Heat and Humidity… I could never make it on the East Coast, Lol Especially in like Florida.

But because we live maybe 7 miles from the ocean, 90+ weather combined with the ocean air can make it very Humid.

But, all and all, I feel it’s been a good summer.

What have you been up to?

I have to admit I’m very much looking forward to the Fall, and Winter… They are my favorite times of the year… I love the Rain (when it comes), and cool grey mornings…

I also find it a great time to Write, so I’m looking forward to that… As it’s been a bit harder to Write lately, largely because of the humidity, I just don’t find it conducive to Writing/Creativity, Lol

But maybe that’s just me.

Love to hear from you guys about your Summer… And if yer in a part of the world where it isn’t Summer, would love to hear about that too
