CHAPTER V – Session 10

Session 9 ended, and we all departed… A week later we arrived for Session 10 of Dungeons And Dragons, and Session 2 of the new campaign…

“Lets begin,” spoke Johnny.

Laris staggered over to the doorway where Ren stood with the Blu Hob stranger… “That wasn’t hard at all,” she speaks with a slight smile and a bloody lip.

“I can fight my own battles,” spoke the Blu Hob.

“Ah… Where’s the fun in that… I love a good bar brawl,” Laris replied.

“Are you sure you’re a Paladin…” spoke Ren with a half laugh.

This struck an interest in the Blu Hob, “A Paladin…” he spoke.

With a gleam in her eye she smiled, and nodded at the stranger.

“I WON!” suddenly Kinner stood up from his poker game holding a pile of gold…

…the other players did not look happy.

Maybe this was a good time to leave Dwarfport after all thought Ren to himself.

The next morning Ren, Chi and Kinner prepared their horses, which were brought over with them from Jor, for travel

“Tru, eh,” spoke Laris who suddenly arrived at the stables.

Ren smiled, “I thought maybe you’d like to join us,” he spoke.

Laris looked… Happy, “I would actually,” she spoke…

…she then pulled out a beautiful light grey stallion from one of stable stalls.

“You hear that CAELUM, we’re going on a trip,” she spoke to her horse as she placed her forehead against its’.

“Perhaps you could use a hand with your endeavors…” spoke the Blu Hub stranger from the shadows…

…he then stepped out into the light and pulled down his mask once more.

“The name is ‘Z’… If you need a lock picked, I’m your man,” Z said with a smirk.

Chi stood next to Ren, “If treasure hunting, and magic searching is on our menu, he could be useful.”

Ren looked at Chi and nodded.

“Welcome aboard Z…” spoke Kinner as he approached and shook his hand.

“A Drow (Dark Elf)… Looks I’m not the only one who doesn’t fit into society that well…” spoke Z.

Z then pointed at Kinner, “Bard…” then at Chi, “Ranger…” then at Ren, “Wizard…” then at Laris, “Paladin…”

Z gave a large Goblinish/Orcish grin, “Not too shabby.”

“And a Barbarian if you’ll have me,” spoke the Barbarian girl from the tavern as she walked through the stable doors…

“I’ve been watching all of you… I’m impressed,” she spoke.

Laris stepped forward…

…and reached her hand out, “Laris.”

The Barbarian girl shrugged and walked by her, “I’m not a hand shaker… But I do know the road from here to Tru… And I do have an interest in traveling with ‘competent’ Adventurers…”

“The name is STRYKE…” she spoke.

CHAPTER I – Return To Jor – CHAPTER II – Laris – CHAPTER III – Dwarfport

Dwarfport was magnificent…

Well protected by Dwarven Guard, though you still need to watch your coin purse.

My (Ren) plan was to head to the guarded city of TRO, but I may just stay here for a few days…

I’ll have to check with Chi and Kinner…

They spent most of their time in the ‘Ye Old Tankard’ tavern, and who could blame them…

…meanwhile I made my way around the City of Dwarfport.

Most Ports aren’t cities, but Dwarfport definitely is.

I keep running into Laris, or she keeps running into me/us, hard to say…

…Anyway I heard there was some sort of Arena style fighting going on, where people could fight for money, and onlookers could place bets, and I wanted to check it out.

Laris joined me.

When we arrived, there were hundreds of people surrounding a sunken, well lit, pit where entries competed.

The first two were a larger, muscular bald Human, and a black Dragonborne…

“Go ahead and describe your Character Mike,” spoke Johnny.

“Sure… My Character is a Black Dragonborne Monk… He’s 6’4″ tall, 250lbs, and young,” spoke Mike.

“Lets continue,” spoke Johnny.

The large muscular dude really laid into the Dragonborne at first, but then its’ yellow eyes lit up, and he hit the Human with multiple blows, nearly knocking him unconscious…

…he was declared the winner…

…too bad we bet on the bald guy.

When the Dragonborne exited the pit, I approached him, “Nice fight…” I spoke.

“THALO… The name’s Thalo… Just keeping in shape,” he replied.

“Facinating method,” interjected Laris, “Which Monistary do you belong to?”

He did not answer, and walked away.

“Must have hit a nerve,” I spoke.

Next to fight was the Barbarian girl from the night before in the tavern.

She mopped the floor with the Half Elf she fought, then looked my way again…

…I have to say, she gives me the distinct feeling of being hunted.

When we returned to the tavern, Kinner was caught up in a high stakes poker game, while Chi watched.

“How’s he doing?” I asked.

“He’s holding his own, but I think it cost him 150 gold to buy in…” explained Chi.

Just then, a fight broke out at a back table…

…three Fighter dudes taking on one black masked, hooded, and cloaked guy…

…boy could he move…

…they couldn’t get a hand on him.

Pretty soon they got him and threw him out of the tavern.

Laris followed him outside…

The cloaked figure stood up, dusted himself off, and made his way down the street.

Laris continued to follow him, but then he disappeared down a alleyway.

Perhaps unwisely, she followed him down the dark alley.

Suddenly dropping from above and behind her, he reappeared baring two rapiers.

“Can I help you with something?” he asked.

“She’s with me,” I spoke appearing behind him out of thin air.

“INVISIBILITY… Impressive,” he spoke in a strange gravely kind of voice.

“Now if you don’t mind,” he spoke, then turned to leave the alley…

…”Why did those men throw you out?” questioned Laris.

The man froze, turned around, and pulled down his mask…

…what we saw was completely foreign to me…

…he looked to be part Hobgoblin, part Orc…

But his skin was blue?

“Because I look like this…” he spoke.

“A Blu Hob,” Laris replied.

I looked at her in amazement, what in the world is a Blu Hob..

“That’s right… You two are pretty sharp, I’ll give you that,” he replied, then turned to go once more.

“I will not tolerate this!” Laris spoke then wooshed by the Blu Hob towards the tavern.

He and I followed her there.

After quite a tussle, Laris laid the three of them out…

The Barbarian girl was watching as well, and seemed impressed.

“Is she always like this?” questioned the Blu Hob.

…”Yup,” I replied.
