CHAPTER XXVI – The Streets Of Avador

An hour or so later, Z reappeared at our table.

“Don’t ask,” he spoke, as he took a swig of his waiting ale, and began eating his food which had been sitting for an hour.

“What say we stroll through this City…” I (Ren) spoke.

All agreed, save Z, “I’ll find you in a bit,” he spoke as he continued to eat.

So Laris, Thalo, Stryke, Chi and I set out…

…Kinner was upstairs sleeping.

We headed directly East, which lead us between two wooden Guard Towers, and passed the backside of the AVADOR KEEP, home to the Dwarven Lord who ran this city…

…until we reached the Eastern part of the City, closer to the ocean, the harbor, and Harbor Merchants.

But first, an Herb Shop.

Thalo went in there…

To the right was an Alchemist/Potion Shop, and a smaller tavern, called ‘THE BLEEDING UNICORN’…

…didn’t sound all that appealing.

Across the path were Stables, a Taylor and a Black Smith.

“I’m goin to the tavern,” spoke Stryke.

“I think I see a Bower,” interjected Chi…

…and so the two of them went off.

That left Laris and I once more.

We stepped into the Alchemist/Potion Shop.

“Hello there,” spoke a Dwarven Shopkeeper enthusiatically, as if he hadn’t had a customer in weeks.

“Hello…” replied Laris, who had separated from me, and was looking around.

“How may I help you today?” he asked.

I glanced up at him, “Always looking for a bit of Magic,” I spoke.

“I see… I see…” he replied.

“Look at this Ren,” spoke Laris from across the shop, holding up a vial of muddy liquid with fish fins etc. floating in it.

“I suspect that’s an ‘ANIMAL FRIENDSHIP’ Potion?” I spoke.

The Dwarf laughs a bit, “Very good Sir.”

“I’m not sure we have an immediate call for that, but do you perhaps have any ‘HEALING’ Potions?” I asked.

“I do have a few, actually…” he spoke, and with this, he brought up a beautiful wooden box, and opened it…

…inside, three vials of vibrant red glittering liquid.

“Lovely…” I replied.

“Are you selling them separately, or together?” I asked.

He paused, going a bit into shrewd business mode, “Depends…”

“How much for all three?” spoke Laris who stepped forward.

“How’s 210 Gold sound…” he spoke.

“So 70 Gold a piece…” she replied.

He nodded.

“Only ones for sale in the City at the moment, as of this morning… But I like you two,” he explained.

“Would you take 180 Gold?” Laris came up against the counter, and asked.

The Dwarf seemed to grimace a bit, feeling unappreciated, he closed the box, “Afraid I can’t do that.”

He started to put them away, “We’ll take em,” she spoke.

“Sorry young lady, they’re not for sale,” he spoke, obviously insulted.

“We thank you for your time,” I spoke, bowed slightly, and pulled on Laris’s arm out of the shop.

“Wait…” the Shopkeepers voice called as we barely stepped out of the shop.

“I’m afraid I’m a bit moody this morning… Haven’t eaten breakfast yet… Nothing wrong with a bit of haggling My Lady,” he looked at Laris with the glimmer back in his eye.

“But I can’t take less than 210 Gold… Not right now, only ones in the City like I say,” he explained.

Laris stepped forward and sat a sack of gold on the counter, then counted out 210 Gold Pieces, “There you go… And we’re heading to the Harbor Merchants, I’ll buy you breakfast too!” she said with a smile.

The Dwarf smiled widely, “Sounds like we have a deal.”

And we were off to fetch the man’s breakfast.
