Django Unchained… In Review

Posted in Film, Film Making, Film Review, Filmcraft, Movie, Movie Review, Movies with tags , , , on July 28, 2019 by darkjade68

Watched Django Unchained Yesterday For The First Time… Let Me Start By Saying, I Know Right Off The Bat That A Quentin Tarantino Film Is Going To Be Violent… Something I’m Not All That Into. Knowing That I Cover My Eyes As Needed lol That Said, He Does Use It As A Style Thing, And Method To Drive Points. And Humor. Moving On. As Much As I Love Jamie Foxx, Christopher Waltz For Me In General, Is An Unbelievable Actor. But Jamie And Leonardo DiCaprio Were Awesome As Well. Tarantino Holds No Punches With Casting In His Films. The Music/Soundtrack Is Pretty Much Everything, Once Again A Tarantino Thing. More Than Anything, I’d Have To Say This Is One Of The Most Penetrating Films In Regards To The Horror That Is/Was Slavery. Lastly, Jamie/Django Is A True Hero Of Retribution In This Film, And DiCaprio Is Truly Dastardly

Captain America Vegan Diet (Day 14) – Vegan Tuna Snap

Posted in Writing on July 24, 2019 by darkjade68

So this is Day 14 of my Captain America Vegan Diet, which is described Here

So the first 9 days went well, lost 2 Pounds, but I know our bodies fluctuate, so it’s just the beginning

I will admit, after that, I had a few rougher days, ended up having some Simple Carbs here and there (Beyond the Carl’s Jr. Vegan Option I allowed myself, which was awesome)… But I’m not giving up

Back on it

Today I made something I’m calling A Vegan Tuna Snap

This includes my ‘White Bean (Vegan) Tuna’ Recipe, which I’ve also started to Add a can of Garbonzo Beans To…

  • Vegan White Bean/Garbonzo Bean Tuna
  • Rice Cake
  • Vegan Cheese
  • Snap Peas
  • Mustard
  • Tomato

When I was a kid, I thought Rice Cakes tasted like Styrofoam, lol

But when you’re trying to reduce bread in your diet, they’re a heaven sent (The…

Difficult Times

These are difficult times in our country (U.S.A).

If nothing else, we are seriously divided.

In times like these, it’s easy to be angry… Easy to point fingers.

More difficult to find a common ground.

It’s a time to take pause… Or not. Some would say it’s a time to take action.

Life is precious… And, fragile.

No matter how resilient the human race seems to be.

Now is a time to be awake… To look around… To get, or be involved, in whatever capacity you’re able.

With peace in your heart… And hope up your sleeve. Be optimistic, if you can. Love each other, if you can.

And maybe, we’ll survive it.

Stranger Things – Season 3… In Review *Spoilers*

So, ‘Stranger Things’ was a cool thing, and obviously a hit

But I was really curious what Season 3 would really be about

Some of the 8 Episode Season’s Episodes were good, some not so good

But I will say, the Actors/Cast were awesome, as usual

Though a couple of the Characters, kinda weren’t as good this time around

Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) was, once again, the strongest Actor on the show

And for me, there are Scenes (Especially her Final Scenes in Episode 8) which made the whole thing worth watching

Actually, the overall feeling and many of the Final Scenes of the Season (Post Battling, 3 Months Later), felt good

Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) (Right) was also a huge stand out. Already liked him in Season 1 & 2, liked him even more in this Season & Joe Keery (Steve) (Left) was also just as hilarious as ever

Dacre Montgomery (Billy) was also awesome in this Season, escalated to a main Villain

And Noah Schnapp (Will) who has absolutely transported me to my childhood in all 3 Seasons… I think this Actor has a real future.

80’s Theme/Setting;

Though I have thoroughly enjoyed the 80’s Theme/Setting, including Music and Movie references from the time…

…I found that there were a few too many John Hughes-esq (Director of The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles Etc.) type ‘forced’ moments in this Season

I get that they’re all Teenagers, and its’ the 80’s

And I appreciate the homage

But, these Scenes are not only too frequent, many of them run way too long, making it feel like ‘filler’ between Monster Scenes Etc. (Not to mention, they lacked John Hughes Talent/Magic, which is fine a couple times, but it was too often in this Season)

Overall Review; 6.25 out of 10 – Overall, it was worth watching for me… Mainly because of several of the Actor’s Performances, the 80’s vibe, plus I like Teenager Adventure Type Movies…

I also love cool Monster Stuff, but the Monsters felt repetitive in this season.

Nuff Said

Tried Carl’s Jr’s Beyond Burger (Vegan) Last Night

Though I’m on my ‘Captain America’ Vegan Diet right now, I do allow myself once in a while to indulge.

My Girlfriend and I had picked up The Carl’s Jr. Beyond Burger (Vegan) a month of so ago, but the meat looked so much like a burger, that we couldn’t eat it.

We instead replaced the patty with one of our own Veggie Patties, and it was still awesome because of that Roll.

We then found out that Beyond Burger had created a second version of the Beyond Burger we bought at the stores, which looks even more like meat.

That’s probably what it was, but me being a Vegan for 6 years, and my Girlfriend 7+ years, we didn’t want to take a chance.

After buying some Beyond Burgers at the store recently, and seeing how the patty had changed from the original, we decided to give Carl’s Jr…
