As I Prepare to Start (Continue) Writing My 2nd Fantasy Novel in the “Planes Of Ordose” Trilogy, I thought it might be a good idea to “Re-Post” The Prologue, And First Two Chapters which I Wrote, and Posted Back in July, 2012… Prior to deciding to put The 2nd Book on Hold until January, 2013. Mainly so I could Focus on Self Publishing “I Died Once” (Published In Late August/Early September), as well as “Chess With Agatha” (The First in the Ordose Series, which I hope to Self Publish In January, 2013).

This will Get Those that Follow The Story Caught up, for when I start/continue Writing/Posting the Story in January.

Now Without Further Ado, I Give You, “Iliad”… The Second Book in the “Planes Of Ordose” Trilogy.

The Second Book In The “Planes Of Ordose” Trilogy

There once was a young man, the son of a shoemaker, whose father… And father’s father… And father’s father’s father, had all made shoes…

But try as he might, he simply did not have the knack for it… None the less, when he came of age, his father demanded that he sought out work within the noble Kingdom of Sthorn Light Castle… Which was ruled by the good King Elias…

Reluctantly, on his sixteenth birthday, he would bid his three sisters and parents all farewell… Off to Sthrorn Light Castle he would go.

Sadly within a few weeks of arriving there, he found that he was almost starving on the little he made shoveling pig fertilizer, and began to look most sickly.

Until one day, when King Elias was riding through the Kingdom with his lovely eight year old, raven haired daughter, Agatha… Also accompanying them was the renowned Blue Wizard Hemmingbyrd, and several King’s Guards of course.

The boy had always heard that the King would once a month ride through the Kingdom, handing out bread, meeting and greeting new Kingdom inhabitants, and basically keeping in touch with his Kingdom. Twas quite a site to behold.

Unfortunately, it just so happened that things were quite busy at his position that day, and so he only had a few moments to watch the Royal Family ride by… But none the less, even for those few moments, it was well worth working his way through the crowd.

The only problem was, most Kingdom Civilians did not appreciate the smell of the man, and thus harassed him a plenty.

“You Can’t Stand Here Boy!” a large bellied man hollered at him…

“I’ll only be a minute…” replied the boy.

“A minute’s too long…” spoke the man, who then pushed the boy into the mud.

As he sat in the mud, hating his existence, he noticed a black hooded figure on a rooftop above the King and his daughter…

What he did next, even surprised himself… The black hooded figure approached a large, loose brick, and was about to push it on top of the King’s daughter.

“WAIT!!” yelled the boy as he jumped to his feet, and ran madly towards the Royal Family…

Quickly two of the King’s Guards jumped in front of, and grabbed him.

King Elias and Hemmingbyrd looked over to see what the ruckus was…

“ON THE ROOF!!” the boy yelled as he was dragged away…

With this The Blue Wizard Hemmingbyrd’s lavender eyes darkened, and he spoke the words “IMDOR TU!!”… A blue shield of light then covered the air above the King and his daughter, and just as it did, the loosened stone struck the shield, and deflected off into the mud below.

The hooded man was never found… But as the boy went back to his work, the Blue Wizard Hemmingbyrd made his way through the crowd, and approached him.

The boy noting this, quickly bowed…

“What is your name boy?” asked Hemmingbyrd.

“Who me?” the boy asked without thinking.

“No, the other boy who just saved the King’s daughter…” replied Hemmingbyrd.

“Oh… I’m… Why I’m Iliad…” spoke the boy.

“Iliad… Hmm… Well then… Spin Gorn” the wizard said, turned and walked away.

The boy couldn’t believe his ears, and quickly gathered his jacket, and followed the wizard…

For the boy knew that “Spin Gorn” meant… “Come Be The King’s Fool”…”

And strange as it may seem… The boy is, and always has been, the only being to ever understand the meaning of the Blue Wizard’s strange words.

But of course, there’s a reason for that…

A Novel

by DarkJade

“Within the heart of all of us, there is a Lion…”

“For each of us… A different Prey… For some it is a Love… For others… A Career… And for some, the will to Stay Alive…”

Jack Shade-

Billy Shade, or rather William Jacob Randolph Shade the Second, stands in the doorway of his ran down rental home in Ness City Kansas. He’s a rather thin young man of twenty six, weighing maybe 165lbs. at best. Which wouldn’t be that bad if he wasn’t also 6’2″ in height. His hair was short and spiky brown, but he’d always wanted to grow it out… And now maybe he would.

Billy, though his friends just call him “Shade”, is wearing some old blue jeans, and your standard one size too big white undershirt. In his hands he holds onto an also thin, cat by the name of Jeremiah. Jeremiah meows at Shade to put him down, but he does not listen… He just keeps stroking him and stroking him. Though don’t let old Jeremiah fool you, he’s also purring away, and is basically in kitty paradise.

Shade’s eyes are a dark steel blue, and he simply gazes outward into the warm Kansas Day, lost in thought.

On the kitchen table behind him is an open envelope, with a letter laid out, read, on it.

Dear William,

I’m sorry to have to tell you that your Father, Bill, has died… This is a difficult time for your six half brother’s and step sister as you might imagine. Old Red Horn and his two brother’s have come back to the Ranch early to manage things well your siblings try to deal with the grief. You don’t know old Red Horn, he is a Native American that helps us run cattle during the season. He and his two brothers have meant a great deal to the “Shade Ranch”. Anyway, I’m rambling a bit, I… I just don’t know what I’m going to do without Bill. And your Step Sister Kate is… Well, lets just say she isn’t herself. Now I know you have been estranged from your Father for a long time, some 22 years now, but that’s only because your Mother Marcy wanted it that way. Bill would have preferred both you and your Older Brother Nicholas to be more involved with the Ranch. Such is life. Now your Brother’s and Sister don’t know that I’m writing you this letter, but what they do know is that your Father left in his Will a note asking that we contact you upon his demise. Sadly there is no mention of Nicholas.

It is of the utmost importance that you make your way to Montana, and the Reading of your Father’s last Will and Testimate. I’m sure it’s nothing, he probably left you a bit of money or something, as the Ranch has done quite well, what with Bill, Red Horn and your Six Brother’s running things. My Oldest Joseph has been a great help to your Father, and is very angry now that he’s gone… Oh well, time will hopefully make it easier for him. Anyway, if you could come right away to Montana, I’ve included a round trip ticket for you, and some money.

Most sincerely, your Step Mom
