Akira… TRON… TRON: Legacy… A Dip In Inspirations Waters

Posted in Editorial, Inspiration, Movies, Science Fiction, Story with tags , , , on April 19, 2012 by darkjade68

In December of 1999, Eugene Oregon, I sat down at my Computer in My 10′ by 14′ Square Foot Room, which was connected to a Garage, at a small place that My Brother, His Wife and First Son lived in…

It was there that I began to Conceive a Story Concept that I Still to this day have not Fully Written…

It Was a Film Concept, in which would be a Blending of Both Actual Actors, and Computer Animation… Something that I hadn’t Truly Seen Before.

Granted The Closest Thing that I had seen to it was The Original 1982 Tron, Which I Actually Saw in a Movie Theater, Lol… Yes, I’ve got a 28 Year Old Spirit, but I am Older than that, ha

TRON was Way Ahead of its Time Technology Wise… And Film Making Wise as well… I believe they used something like 6 Different Forms of Animation in that Film… Several of them which were “Revolutionary”… In fact, if you watch the very end of that scene again, you’ll notice that once they Go Through The Wall, The Animation Actually Changes…

And In This Story Concept, I actually had a Form of Bike which was Lit Up by Lights, but it didn’t take place inside of a Computer like in Tron…

But it did Take Place in the Future…

Another Inspiration that may have played a role in this Aspect of My Story Concept, was My First All Time Favorite Anime’ Feature… Akira

Now Akira came out in 1988, but I didn’t see it until like 1998…

But it was Probably This Next Scene that Actually Truly Inspired Me About Akira

And for All Those “Purests” Out There, Here’s The Same Scene, but in Its Original Japanese Spoken State

Well Since 2000 when I sat at My Computer, Listening to The Oregon Rain Outside My Window, in a Room where Basically The Light From the Computer Monitor Lit Up The Whole Room, Lol

And Listening To an Album by Christopher Lawrence, Called “City of Angels” (Same Name as the Film, but this is something Different), or “Temptation“, which Sadly I can’t Find on Line to give you a Sampler… Correction, I can’t Find A Link to a Song Called “Medusa”, which was The Main Song I played over and over again While Conceiving This Project.

But I did Find One Track from the Album Here…

But as many of you know, I sat down “Film Making in 2003”, and Screenplay Writing in 2006, so I kind of ended up leaving that Story on the Back Burner.

Then to My Amazement, come 2010, They Finally Did a Sequel to the Original TRON, Which was TRON: Legacy

Which I Actually Reviewed a Bit Back Here An Opus Of Light – TRON: Legacy In Review

(Sadly You’re goina have to Follow This Link to YouTube To Watch This Scene, but It’s Worth It)

Ironically, My Story was about a Father and Son, which TRON: Legacy was basically about, but mine is a total Different Concept.

None the less, the way “Clu” looks in this Film, and the Way The Bikes Look, is very Similar to what I had Conceived back in 2000…

I Guess If I go forward with Writing it at some point, I’ll have to be careful about it, Lol

Screenplay Writing – Use Of Music (Part II)

Screenplay Writing – Use Of Music (Part II)*

*Here’s Part One if you Missed It Screenplay Writing – The Use Of Music

In This Example of The Use of Music in Writing a Screenplay, I’ve Jumped Ahead in the Story… But The Music’s really the thing. Using a Non-Formatted, Non-Edited Screenplay that I started back in 2005.

O.S. = Off Screen

V.O. = Voice Of

EXT. = Outside

INT. = Inside

(This Was a Working Title only)

A Screenplay

 James Mahoney

JOHN – “Hey… Where are those guys going…”

(Quarter pause)

PETER – “Umm… I think they’re just going to cruise around town and stuff…”

“Maybe grab some lunch…”

John jumps up, and grabs his jacket.

JOHN – “Lets go with them…”

John passes by Pete and heads towards the door.

PETER – “Umm… Ok…”

John and Peter suddenly come out of the cabin…

…and jump into the back of Brett’s Jeep.

Ash and Josh are in front, with Brett driving…

…with Sarah in back.

Ash seems surprised.

John looks at Sarah.

JOHN – “Hi…”

He than looks over at Pete who is smiling, and shakes his head.

SARAH – “Hi…”

BRETT – “Well alright than…”

Brett throws on the radio

(Tears for Fears: Everybody Wants to Rule the World)

Ash smiles.

They drive into town.

After driving around for a bit, they walk on the sidewalk, heading for somewhere to eat.

Ash walks next to John.

And Pete next to Sarah and Brett.

Pete keeps trying to get Sarah’s attention from Brett.

John and Ash laugh at them.

Ash looks at John who is smiling.

ASH – “So listen… About last night—“

JOHN – “It’s ok…”

ASH – “No… I…”

She drops her head a bit.

ASH – “Let’s just say I was the first love who got left in my story…”

Brett is telling a loud, drunk story.

Brett – “So than the guy has the gull to bring us a check…”

Sarah laughs.

Pete fake laughs.

John elbow’s Pete.

Brett – “I couldn’t believe it…”

Pete leans forward.

PETER – “And neither can we…”

Pete holds up his drink to Brett.

John gets behind him, and noogies his head.

John – “I’ve had about enough out of you fellow…”

Ash laughs, well John takes note of how beautiful she looks in the sunlight.

Ash notices that John is looking at her.

And she takes a piece of hair out of her mouth, and than smiles at him.

FANTASY – SLOW MOTION (Coldplay: A Rush of Blood to the Head)

John imagines taking Ash into his arms and touching her cheek.

She smiles, and wraps her arms around her…

…they kiss

John and Ash walking in a beautiful field.

A light yellow light covers the field.

Pollen fills the air.

He falls on the ground.

She lands on top of him.

A man stands in a dark doorway.

MAN – “You can’t fall in love again John…”

John suddenly looks up into nothingness.

ASH – “What is it John…”

MAN – “You’ll only get hurt again…”

John starts to tear up a bit.

Ash touches his face.

Ash is touching his John’s face.

He jumps.

ASH – “What is it John…”

John looks around.

Than stands up.

PETER – “What’s up man…”

JOHN – “I gotta go…”

John steps away from the table.

Peter stands up…

PETER – “He’ll be alright… I’ll be right back…”

INT. RESTAURANT (Enigma: Look of Today)

John walks briskly through the restaurant.

Pete follows.

John steps out of the door, and just starts walking into the parking lot.

Pete comes out, and follows.

John doesn’t see a car pulling into the parking lot.

Peter suddenly grabs him, and pulls him out of harms way.

PETER – “You alright man…”

John is crying a bit.

JOHN – “I can’t do this man…”

Screenplay Writing – The Use Of Music

Posted in Editorial, Entertainment, Screenplay, Videos, Writing with tags , , on February 25, 2012 by darkjade68

It’s funny, I was going through some Old Writing Files I have on this Computer, that I had transferred from one of my Older Computers… The Files were Created Back When I was Focusing on Screenplay Writing back between 2003 and 2006.

I had Completed One Screenplay, Completely Edited it, and it was basically Ready To Go… However, I was always Creating New Beginnings of Screenplays, which often never made it very far… But I found that it was Important just to be Writing as Much as Possible, even if it wasn’t very good, and even if you never touched it again, lol

Today I came across such an Experimental Writing, which is Completely Not Formatted, Edited or anything more than a “Right Out of My Head”, and “On To Paper” kind of thing.

But one thing I did do, which if I recall I often did whilst Writing Potential Screenplays, was “Write Down Music” that might be played in the Scene…

Now Reading This, it seems almost more like a “Written for T.V. Movie”, lol… Which is ok, and some of the Music I chose along the way I know, and already liked… And some, frankly, I have no idea where I came up with it… Maybe I was listening to some sort of Online Radio Station or something, Though This Particular Piece looks to have been Written Back in 2005, so I’m not sure if I was aware of any Online Radio Stations at that time, as I Often Listen to “Pandora” these days, or Put My “ITunes” On Random.

Anyway, I thought it might be kind of fun to Share This Piece with you, not so much for the Writing, as like I say, it looks to have been something that popped in my head, so I Wrote it down… But more so to show you how Music can Play a Part in Writing a Screenplay, just like it plays a Major Part in The Actual Film itself.

Enjoy, I hope you get something out of this, lol

PETER (V.O) – “So… Tell me again what the stories about…”

JOHN (V.O.) – “Well… I haven’t gotten it exactly figured out quite yet…”

In the passenger seat JOHN, a thirty something year old male, and driving, PETER, his younger brother, make their way into the mountains of Big Bear California.

JOHN – “But I know that part of it will include this guy’s wife cheating and leaving him…”

PETER – “Wow…”

(Half Pause)

PETER – “That’s depressing man…”

(Half pause)

JOHN – “Thanks…”

PETER – “What happened to those types of stories you used to write when we we’re kids…”

(Half pause)

JOHN – “Like…”

PETER – “Oh… I Don’t know… Like the one where the kid hides away in the attic of his school…”

(Half pause)

PETER – “And reads that magical book that allows him to see into that magical world…”

JOHN – “Big dragon dog…”

PETER – “Yeah! That’s the one…”

(Half pause)

PETER – “And the kid’s like tucked up in that attic with a little paper bag lunch… And when the characters in the book stop to eat… Like… So does he…”

“And it’s like raining outside…”

(Half pause)

JOHN – “The Never Ending Story…”

PETER – “Yeah!! That’s the one… That was great!”

(Quarter pause)

JOHN – “That was a movie Peter…”

PETER – “Oh…”

That’s Enough, as I don’t like Posts To Get Too Long, but I’ll Do Part II of this Soon…

Until then, I leave you with a Couple More Robert Palmers Vids
