CHAPTER XXII – Saya Of The Underlay

The men I traveled with, I did not know…

After speaking to the Lord Mayor of Tru, I was introduced to a High Priest/Cleric of The Order of Greyborn, named TRIDEN…

A formidable man, he and 10 of his Clerics of Greyborn, and 50 Tru Swordsmen, and me along for the moment, were heading to vanquish the Chimera in the mountains of the North, and the Warlord Torbaloy in the Hobgoblin Lair my Party and i had returned from the night before.

In addition to Triden, his Clerics, and Tru’s Swordsmen, there was a single Knight of Tru…

…his name was STREMLEN.

He stands 6’3″, with brown hair and a thick beard…

…but it’s the look in his eyes that grabbed my attention.

A strength and wisdom, more becoming of a Leader…

…he is the Duke’s favorite Knight, of 10 Knights that protect him, chosen for some reason to accompany this group of soldiers to the North.

If all is well, my Party has received the message from my Raven, and will meet me in the mountains near the Chimera’s Lair…

…and once they do, we will leave the Region of Tru…

…its’ Politics are not the ‘Purpose’ I seek.

In the dark underbelly of Tru, lay two Thieves Guilds…

This one is the ‘UNDERLAY’, lead by its’ Leader, SAYA…

…a Half Elf, whose physical prowess has lead all to wonder if she consorts with the Elven Gods…

Three of her Disciples have brought Z before her.

“Hello Z…” she spoke.

“Saya, right?” he replied.

“That’s right…” she replied.

“I have to say, I am impressed by your skills,” she spoke.

…Z paused before replying, “Coming from you, that’s a heck of a compliment.”

She stepped down from a two step raised area, pulling back her black hood, to reveal an attractive, yet scarred face, and shoulder length blue hair, “How long do you plan on being in Tru?”

…”Haven’t quite figured that part out yet,” he replied.

Saya suddenly looked to a corner shadow where Thalo stepped out of.

“A friend?” she spoke to Z, who looked back at Thalo.

“Sorta… Yeah,” he replied.

“Not a Thief, I’m surprised, and impressed that you made it into my Den unnoticed,” she spoke to Thalo, who did not reply.

“A Shadow Monk I think…” she added.

Z looked at Thalo, “I thought Shadow Monks couldn’t leave their Order…” he spoke.

“They can’t,” she replied.

“Listen, Saya, I am honored that you summoned me here, but I don’t plan on making Tru my residence, so–” he spoke, but she interuppted.

“–Tru is about to break apart, and reform… Its’ Leaders are weak, and they have a fool Lord Mayor running the city below its’ merit,” she spoke.

“Alright… What does that have to do with me?” replied Z.

“I haven’t decided yet, but I wanted to meet you… Introduce myself properly,” she spoke.

Z bowed a bit, “I’m honored to meet you… Your methods are frankly, Legendary… Which is saying a lot, as you’re not all that old, I don’t think,” he replied.

Her eyes glistened, but she did not reply.

“You…” she spoke, then looked over at Thalo, “And your friend, are free to go,” she finished, then turned and disappeared into the shadows.
